LANDSCAPES
Land is the place where heavens meet to hold the oceans & lakes, and display the beautiful skies above! The ancient formation of this planet can be imagined with these clues we view each day, as we walk about on the earth. The many contrasts of rock formations, the varied vegetation, and possibilities for living in these vast locations has always inspired travel & painting what I am experiencing. Painting plein air is my favorite, as I love painting on site & being out doors in nature. I hope these will remind you of places you have been & inspire you to journey. Autumn offers such a vast array of colors & sudden changes in the weather, I find that it makes it an especially exciting time to capture in watercolors. This peaceful creek scene reflects the tranquility of that fragrant walk I took in the woods, many moons ago.

Morning brought the crisp cold snow, thickly covering the farm that autumn day, as only a snow blanket can. It was time to quake the limbs of the trees, still full with leaves, so the branches would not break with the snow's surprising weight.

Viewed from below, this Portugese windmill caught the wind so gracefully, as natures' powerful source churned the fabric covered blades around, lifting my hair in the breeze as well.

What is this tree's story? Was this tree struck by lightening? Caught in a forest fire? It's endurance is amazing, as it goes on living. The atmosphere is filled with it's mystery and the strengths that carries within it's silence in the mist.

I sat upon a cool rock, shaded by these friendly giants. I always marvel at the power and majesty of these ancient beings who have shared our earth for so many years. They inspire me to new heights.

I grew fond of the magnificent veiws in the San Francisco Presidio. I was able to explore much of what the Presidio offers at least twice weekly for 11 weeks while I Co-Chaired the California Water Color Association's 41st National Exhibition. Just one of the perks of being involved with nature via watercolors.
