WILDLIFE
Always enjoying a connection with nature, I love studying wildlife and am facinated by their dignity, wisdom, abilities, strengths, endurance, loyality, curiosity; their sense of presence & humor. I learn so much from these wonderful creatures as I attempt to express their essence with my water medium. Although I love to observe them in person, I often return to my studio to paint, inspired with photographs taken by others as well as with my own camera. Painting wildlife on location is my newest challenge, as I love to paint en plen air.

This scene shows how many female & young elephants carefully check each other out, by exploring with their sensitive trunks, in a welcoming & playful way. In later years, when the Bull Elephants are mature, they will demonstrate their enormus strength in an extremely serious ritual, which includes their massive trunks.

African Elephant Calf
Elephant calfs are playful & so agile that they can easily play, slipping & sliding in the water & mud. Contemplating the beautiful vista of Africa, this young African Elephant Calf has just romped in the syrupy mud and is now resting in a peaceful & joyous state of mind. Filled with joy & mindfull of the constantly changing present, she radiates the wonder of nature as only an elephant can.

Great White Egret
These beautiful water birds soar above the marsh lands in many regions of the country, including the San Francisco Bay Area. Often they may be confused with other graceful birds, such as cranes, until you recognize their distinct structure and elegant long legs. You will then identify, The Great White Egret, as the fine birds they are so perfectly named.

Rocky Mountain Goat
I know of two members of 'The International Order of The Rocky Mountain Goats'. It was they who inspired me & led this one to appear with my watercolors on paper. The very act of balance is innate in these fine creatures, who live high in the steepest of rock formations. Climbing to such a glorius height, I think they could possibly have chosen this lifestyle for the spectacular views to contemplate at times like this.

One Magestic Moose silently sips form the clear cool mountain lake high in the mountains of the North. The weather brewing in the distance could change the entire serene atmosphere within this day. This moose knows what is best in the moment and takes advantage of everything with full presence.

Emperor Penguin Family
Royal & dignified, loyal & protective, the Emporer Penguin family are the strongest animals known for their incredible endurance amongst the harsh atmosphere of the Antartic. They are amazing in many ways, so it isn't surprising that they can find each other in a crowd of like minded folks!
